Master of Science in Cancer Biology and Oncology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on investigating the mechanisms of development, detection, monitoring, and treatment of animal cancers. Students will explore the molecular pathways involved in cancer proliferation and inhibition, aiming to identify targets for cancer therapies.
The program emphasizes early detection and monitoring of cancer through the identification of serum biomarkers that could be developed into diagnostic kits. Additionally, research includes evaluating the efficacy of new synthetic and natural anticancer compounds in dogs and cats with naturally occurring cancers, as well as in mice and rats with specifically induced cancers. Innovative drug delivery systems will also be developed for more effective therapies. The research culminates in preclinical and clinical trials aimed at enhancing cancer therapeutics for both animals and humans.
