Master of Science in Catalysis By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on research directly pertinent to the petrochemical industry. Key areas of study include the selective oxidation of butane to maleic anhydride, partial oxidation of propane and propene to oxygenates, and oxidative coupling of methane, along with the activation of alkanes.

Additionally, the program explores the synthesis of novel solid catalysts for biodiesel production, the development of carbon nanotubes and nanostructures, and the creation of nanoparticles from bulk metal oxides. Students will also investigate supported metal oxides, solid superacids, and photocatalytic processes, preparing them for impactful careers in catalysis and related fields.

Entry Requirements 

• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
