Master of Science in Chemical Pathology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) centers on the analysis and interpretation of biochemical tests for the screening, diagnosis, management, and prevention of diseases. This program explores biochemical changes in various substances found in blood and body fluids, including glucose, enzymes, hormones, minerals, ions, RNA, DNA, and more, to gain insights into the etiology, pathophysiology, and progression of diseases.
Additionally, the program emphasizes fundamental biochemistry research, focusing on the structure, composition, and chemical reactions of substances within living systems. Students will also engage in the development, evaluation, and validation of new technologies in this field. Research areas may encompass pharmacology, physiology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunochemistry, neurochemistry, as well as bioinorganic, bioorganic, and biophysical chemistry, providing graduates with a well-rounded foundation in chemical pathology.
