Master of Science in Food Biotechnology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) equips students with essential knowledge and technical skills necessary for conducting research in the field of food biotechnology. Students will gain an understanding of the significance of various biotechnological processes in the production of foods and bioingredients, food bioprocessing, and the analysis of food components. They will learn to apply relevant principles and concepts in their research endeavors.
Additionally, the program explores the role of modern biotechnology in enhancing food security through the production of transgenic and genetically modified foods, as well as improving food ingredients for industrial applications.
Topics such as the acceptance and trade of genetically modified foods, applicable laws and regulations, and the use of biological catalysts and microorganisms within food systems are also covered, addressing current issues in the biotechnology-food relationship.
