Master of Science in Forensic Science By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on specialized studies in tissue decomposition and the environmental factors that influence it, such as land conditions and the role of microorganisms as indicators. This program encompasses a range of forensic techniques, including DNA identification, fingerprint analysis, and the examination of human tissues, bones, and chemical substances.
Students will engage in research aimed at advancing current methods for identifying forensic cases and developing reconstructive digital images from fallen structures. Moreover, research opportunities include investigating the capabilities of animals, such as dogs, that can detect human tissues, drugs, explosives, or illegal substances. The interdisciplinary nature of forensic science integrates fields such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, molecular pharmacology, and toxicology, preparing graduates for impactful careers in forensic investigations.
