Master of Science in Genetics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the conservation and characterization of animal and plant species. This program integrates cutting-edge genetic theories and methods, including recent advances in genomics and proteomics, to explore biomolecular structures and their functions.
Students will delve into the evolutionary and life histories of species, emphasizing the significance of genetic variation for survival and the necessary methods for sustaining biodiversity in natural and laboratory environments. Research projects may include the conservation of orchid species using advanced molecular techniques, genetic characterization of local fruits, fungi, and herbs, and studies on the molecular aspects of endemic and endangered wildlife to enhance biodiversity conservation through genetic research.
