Master of Science in Marine Biology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the comprehensive study of marine life, including both flora and fauna, and their interactions with biotic and abiotic factors. This program emphasizes systematics, taxonomy, and population genetics, utilizing both conventional and molecular methods to assess biodiversity and community structures, as well as their responses to environmental and climate changes.
Additionally, the program explores the influences of physical and chemical factors on marine nutrient cycles, energy flow, and ecosystem productivity, which are vital for determining ecosystem stability and resilience. The study of marine biology is integrated with disciplines such as biological oceanography, cell biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, molecular biology, zoology, marine conservation biology, and fisheries biology to uncover the complex functions within marine ecosystems.
• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
