Master of Science in Medical Physics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the application of physics principles to medical challenges. This field specifically addresses the technical foundations of using both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation in diagnosing and treating diseases, including areas such as radiology, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine.
Students will engage in research aimed at enhancing treatment effectiveness, particularly in radiation therapy, where ionizing radiation is employed to address various types of cancer through methods like external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy. The program also emphasizes the importance of maintaining optimal radiation safety levels for patients, healthcare workers, and the public, equipping graduates with the skills needed to contribute to advancements in medical physics and patient care.
