Master of Science in Microbial Biotechnology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the exploitation of microorganisms for various biological and industrial applications using multidisciplinary biotechnology approaches.

Students will characterize and optimize the biochemical and physiological properties of microorganisms through omics technologies and synthetic biology, transforming them into cell factories for producing valuable molecules. Research emphasizes manipulating microorganisms to achieve breakthroughs in disease diagnostics, biological control of pests and pathogens, the development of industrial catalysts, and microbial agents for bioremediation of contaminated environments. 

The program also highlights the importance of ethics and biosafety in the production process, preparing graduates to contribute significantly to the field of microbial biotechnology.

Entry Requirements 

• A Bachelor’s degree (with honours) in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000
