Master of Science in Physics By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) emphasizes the fundamental properties of materials and experimental techniques across various areas, including condensed matter physics, molecular physics, nuclear and radiation physics, and optics. Key research focuses on compound semiconductor materials (III-V semiconductors), particularly their epitaxial growth, characterization, and electronic processes in relation to nanotechnology and optoelectronic applications.

Additionally, the program investigates carbon nanostructure systems, such as carbon nanotubes and graphitic nanofibers, exploring their preparation, properties, and functionalization. Research activities include nanostructured coatings and the analysis of natural and anthropogenic sediments through instrumentation nuclear activation analysis (INAA). Students will also engage in physics education research, focusing on pedagogical methods, simulation tools, and multimedia visualizations to improve physics teaching and learning experiences.

Entry Requirements 

• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
