Master of Science in Phytochemistry By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) explores the chemistry of substances found in plants, particularly focusing on secondary metabolites with applications in food, cosmetics, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. This program emphasizes the discovery of novel bioactive molecules from plants and natural resources, targeting therapeutic areas such as inflammation, cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease.
Research involves using bioassays and zebrafish model assays for biological activity screening, complemented by animal studies in collaboration with strategic partners. Advanced chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques are employed for the isolation and chemical characterization of these metabolites, enhancing our understanding of their biological functions and potential uses.
• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
