Master of Science in Plant Physiology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the molecular, cellular, and systemic approaches to studying plant physiology under both natural and pathological conditions. Research in this program spans from cell and tissue culture to animal models and human pathophysiological studies.
The scope of research includes areas such as cell physiology, systems physiology, and pathophysiology. Students will explore how environmental factors, aging, and metabolite content affect plant growth, as well as responses to light intensity and nutritional needs. The program also addresses genetic studies aimed at developing cloned and transgenic plants. Understanding plant physiology is essential for advancing agricultural practices and agro-technology, including drug discovery research, isolation of plant-derived metabolites, and assessments related to phytopharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, pharmacogenomics, and toxicogenomics.
• A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.750 or equivalent, as accepted by the UPM Senate
