Master of Science in Public Health By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is designed to prepare students to tackle public health challenges using multidisciplinary approaches that integrate the latest knowledge in public health, rational thinking, decision-making, professionalism, ethics, and collaboration.
Students will acquire advanced knowledge in a specialized body of theoretical and practical topics, along with high-level skills in analysis, critical evaluation, and professional application. The program emphasizes the ability to solve complex problems while thinking critically and acting independently. Coursework includes recognition of factors influencing disease presence and causation within communities, behavior, organization, and public health problems, as well as control and prevention measures.
The teaching approach adheres to the three tiers of disease prevention: primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention, treating all major fields of public health as a holistic and integrated discipline. Additionally, the program allows for in-depth research that can contribute not only to academic literature but also to addressing current public health issues.
