Master of Science in Small Animal Medicine By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on enhancing the health and well-being of companion animals through a deeper understanding of diseases and therapies. The program emphasizes the importance of the human-animal bond and aims to reduce the number of unwanted and problem pets through community education initiatives.
Research within this field concentrates on identifying and understanding the etiology, epidemiology, and pathogenesis of diseases affecting companion animals. Students will also be involved in the development of novel, specific diagnostic tests for detecting disease-causing agents, as well as monitoring and implementing newer treatment options and protocols. The research group possesses expertise across multiple disciplines, including internal medicine, cardiology, reproduction, diagnostic imaging, zoonoses, and epidemiology.
