Master of Science in Virology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) offers an in-depth study of viruses and virus-like agents, including prions and viroids, as well as the diseases they cause. This program emphasizes research focused on various aspects of virology, including virus structure, classification and evolution, and mechanisms of viral infection and replication within host cells.

Students will explore interactions between viruses and host physiology and the immune system, covering topics such as viral diseases, pathogenicity, virus isolation and culture techniques, and diagnostic and therapeutic methods for viral infections. Key research areas include molecular virology, virus-mediated gene transfer, gene therapy, viruses linked to cancer, viral vaccines, vaccination strategies, and antiviral chemotherapy. Graduates will be prepared to make significant contributions to the field of virology and its applications.

Entry Requirements 

• A Bachelor's degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75
