Master of Veterinary Science in Clinical Pathology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases through laboratory analyses of blood, urine, body fluids, secretions, and tissue specimens. The program encompasses various laboratory tests, including hematology, clinical biochemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and molecular techniques.
Research in this field primarily addresses diseases affecting the blood and immune system, coagulation disorders, infectious and non-infectious diseases, cancers, disease biomarkers, and abnormalities in other body systems. Clinical pathology serves as a crucial tool in toxicological studies, assessing the effects and efficacy of drugs and natural products in disease treatment, as well as monitoring healing and recovery from both induced and naturally occurring diseases in animals. The techniques used in clinical pathology also contribute to understanding animal population health, disease prevalence, and outbreaks. This program prepares graduates to effectively apply clinical pathology to veterinary practice and research.
