Master of Veterinary Science in Epidemiology and Public Health By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is dedicated to understanding the occurrence, distribution, causes, prevention, control, monitoring, and surveillance of animal diseases. This program emphasizes the analysis of epidemiological data to identify and correlate risk factors associated with animal diseases and public health, particularly regarding emerging and marginalized zoonoses.
Research topics include investigating disease resistance, antibiotic residues in food, and food safety initiatives. Students will engage in studies focused on food quality, process control for animal products, microbial risk assessments, and the application of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems. Field research will involve designing epidemiologic studies and developing HACCP-based systems for livestock and food animal farms, empowering graduates to address veterinary public health issues effectively.
