Master of Veterinary Science in Parasitology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) centers on molecular biology and systematics, epidemiology, genetic characterization, phylogenetics, antigenic variation, and drug resistance in parasites that infect livestock, companion animals, wildlife, and humans in tropical environments. The program emphasizes the use of both traditional methodologies and advanced molecular techniques to study parasite cellular biology and their interactions with hosts and the environment.
Students will explore critical areas such as genetic variation among parasites and the effects of gene expression patterns on parasitaemia, immune responses, chemotherapeutic resistance, and cellular invasion. Research topics will include significant parasites in veterinary and medical contexts, focusing on new and emerging parasitic diseases, zoonosis, and economically impactful parasites affecting livestock and companion animals.
• A Bachelor's degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with a minimum CGPA of 2.75
