Master of Veterinary Science in Virology By Research Mode at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) focuses on the study of viruses and virus-like agents as they relate to animal health. This program investigates the pathogenic effects of these agents and the diseases they cause in veterinary contexts.
Students will engage in research on various aspects of virology, including virus structure, classification, evolution, and the ways viruses infect and replicate within host cells. Additionally, the program examines the interactions between viruses and the immune responses of animals, covering viral disease pathology, isolation techniques, and methods for diagnosing and treating viral infections. Research areas also encompass molecular virology, gene transfer techniques, gene therapy, veterinary vaccines, and antiviral chemotherapy. This degree equips graduates with the expertise needed to address viral challenges in veterinary medicine.
