The Bachelor of Bioresource Technology with Honours at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is designed to provide students with a strong scientific and technological foundation in bioresources, including both wood and non-wood materials. The program equips students with comprehensive knowledge in bioresource, paper, and coatings science and technology, addressing the growing demand for sustainable and innovative material solutions.
The curriculum covers key areas such as basic coatings technology, wood science and technology, pulp production and papermaking, paper recycling, wood-based panel technology, lignocellulosic composites, and related fields. Through a balanced combination of theoretical coursework and hands-on practical training, students develop essential technical competencies and the ability to apply scientific principles to real-world industrial processes.
Graduates of the program are well-prepared for careers across a wide range of bioresource-based industries, including wood and furniture manufacturing, panel and composite production, pulp and papermaking, paints and coatings, adhesives and resins, as well as packaging and other related sectors.
