Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is a four-year undergraduate program designed to produce highly competent, skilled, and industry-ready graduates to serve both the food industry and the public sector. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with in-depth knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of food, food composition analysis, and the principles of food processing and preservation.
Students gain strong exposure to food packaging, quality assurance, food safety systems, product development, sensory evaluation, and food laws and regulations. Through a balanced integration of theory and practical training, the program prepares graduates with the technical expertise and professional competencies required to meet current and emerging challenges in the food sector.
Graduates of the program are well-positioned to pursue careers in both private and public organizations, including roles in research and development, food product innovation, quality and regulatory affairs, education, and other science- and food-technology-related fields.
