Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with Honours at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is designed to produce graduates with a strong fundamental understanding of microbiology and related biological disciplines. The programme provides comprehensive knowledge in microbial biology, supported by core areas such as genetics, ecology, evolution, biodiversity, as well as basic chemistry, mathematics, and biostatistics.

Students are equipped with essential laboratory and technical skills and are trained to think critically and analytically, while upholding professional, ethical, and responsible scientific conduct. The programme also emphasizes competency in scientific research methodologies, including experimental design, data analysis, synthesis, and evaluation within the biological sciences.

Graduates are well prepared for careers in microbiology-related industries, research institutions, healthcare, biotechnology, and environmental sectors, as well as for postgraduate studies and advanced scientific training.

Entry Requirements

• Obtained High School Certificate Level or its equivalent with minimum entry qualification of CGPA 2.75 

And

Minimum grade B in subjects below:

• Biology

And

Minimum grade C in subjects below:

• Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics
