Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is a five-year undergraduate dental programme designed to produce competent, ethical, and community-oriented dental professionals. The programme adopts an integrated, problem-based and community-focused curriculum, ensuring a strong balance between theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, and social responsibility.

  • Year 1: Provides a solid foundation in basic medical and dental sciences.
  • Year 2: Focuses on pre-clinical dental and medical sciences, alongside introductory medical clinical sciences.
  • Years 3, 4 & 5: Emphasise advanced dental clinical sciences, community engagement activities, and research training.

This structured approach prepares graduates to deliver comprehensive dental care while addressing community health needs and engaging in lifelong learning and research.

Entry Requirements 

STPM
• Grades BBB or ABC or AAC in 3 subjects i.e.

  • Biology; and
  • Chemistry; and
  • Physics or Mathematics
