The Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is a research-based doctoral programme designed to develop advanced research expertise and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in computer science. Candidates undertake an independent research project under the supervision of at least one academic staff member from the School of Computer Sciences and are required to produce a thesis presenting their original research findings. Depending on university and school requirements, candidates may also need to complete additional coursework or academic activities. The programme typically takes 30–40 months for full-time candidates, equipping graduates with the expertise needed to pursue academic, research, and advanced professional careers in computer science.

Entry Requirements

• A Master’s degree (Coursework or Mixed Mode) in Computer Science/Computing/Information Technology or equivalent; with CGPA of at least 3.00/4.00
