Master of Science in Applied Entomology at (USM) is a specialized postgraduate programme focused on advanced studies of insect science and its applications in agriculture, public health, and environmental management. The programme provides comprehensive training across diverse areas of entomology, including aquatic entomology, urban and structural entomology, chemical ecology, insect biochemistry and physiology, insect–plant interactions, molecular entomology, pest management, medical entomology, vector ecology and control, and insect systematics.
Students benefit from strong research support through the School of Biological Sciences and access to the Vector Control Research Unit (VCRU), a leading research centre in Asia for vector and urban pest management. The unit is equipped with advanced facilities for insecticide resistance studies, toxicology and chemical analysis, space spray applications, and formulation of household and public health insecticides. It also maintains extensive insect-rearing facilities for key vector and pest species, including mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies, ants, and termites, enabling in-depth experimental and applied research.
• A minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.00 for BSc in Biology or equivalent
