The Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, offered at FKE (Faculty of Electrical Engineering), is a research-based degree program designed for individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field who wish to expand and enhance their knowledge. This program is multidisciplinary in nature and aims to help candidates develop high-level analytical and presentation skills while integrating academic and professional considerations. Successful completion of the program indicates that candidates have undergone rigorous research training. The M.Phil. thesis is expected to make a valuable contribution to the existing body of knowledge in the field. The degree is awarded based on a comprehensive oral examination (viva voce) of the candidate's thesis upon completion of their studies. Prospective graduate students should adequately prepare themselves in the fundamental subject matter necessary for advanced work and other relevant areas of learning to conduct high-quality research and successfully complete the program.

Program courses

  • Research Methodology course (course code UKEP0010), to
be taken once during study. Students are advised to take this
course in the first semester of study.

  • One University Elective Course (course code U*** ***3), to
     be taken once during study.
  •  Research (course code MKEE **00), to be taken every semester
     until the submission of thesis.
The progress of a candidate in any particular semester is assessed through research progress reports submitted at the end of each semester. It is important for the students to know that the submission of the progress report needs to be done by the student themselves via GSMS
