The Doctor of Philosophy programme in the field of Chemical Engineering (PKKK) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is available on a full-time basis, with a study duration ranging from a minimum of three (3) years to a maximum of eight (8) years. The research program assessment consists of progress reports, supervisor's evaluations, research proposals, and a viva voce examination. The programme aims to develop an in-depth and advanced knowledge of chemical engineering-related areas, enabling students to utilize techniques and skills relevant to chemical engineering practice. Students are expected to independently manage scientific research problems, employing acceptable methodologies and tools either individually or collaboratively. Effective communication and persuasion of ideas and findings through collaborative work, oral presentations, and scientific/journal writing are emphasized. The programme promotes intellectual honesty and integrity throughout the learning process and encourages students to engage in lifelong learning from diverse resources. Furthermore, students are expected to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team, including providing motivation and delegating tasks effectively.
