The Doctor of Philosophy programme in the field of Environmental Engineering (PKKS) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is available on a full-time basis, with a duration of study ranging from a minimum of three (3) years to a maximum of eight (8) years. The research program assessment encompasses progress reports, supervisor's evaluations, research proposals, and a viva voce examination. The programme aims to incorporate advanced knowledge in environmental engineering, enabling students to formulate hypotheses, design and execute scientifically rigorous experiments or research to solve and evaluate observed phenomena. Critical analysis and evaluation of problems in related areas are emphasized, utilizing effective thinking skills, especially when faced with limited information, and providing solutions through the application of appropriate tools and techniques. Effective communication of ideas and technical findings, both in written and oral forms, is a key aspect of the programme. Students are expected to plan and conduct research undertakings professionally, ethically, and responsibly. Lifelong learning is encouraged to meet the needs of continuing professional development.
