The Doctor of Philosophy in Software Engineering (Research) at UTM University Malaysia is a full-time program available exclusively at the UTM Main Campus in Johor Bahru. The duration of the program varies based on the student's entry qualifications, lasting between three (3) to eight (8) years.

Structured around a two-semester academic session, this full research program involves close supervision by qualified academic staff. Candidates engage in directed research that guides them in developing and applying new knowledge in software engineering.

Assessment consists of evaluating initial research proposals, semester progress reports, and a thesis examination (viva voce), ensuring that candidates maintain high academic standards throughout their research journey.

Entry Requirements

• A Master’s Degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or any other Institutions of higher learning recognised by the Senate.
