The Master of Philosophy programme in the field of Polymer Engineering (MKKR) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is offered on a full-time basis with a duration of study ranging from one (1) year to a maximum of four (4) years. The research program assessment is based on several components, including progress reports, supervisor's evaluations, research proposals, and a viva voce examination. The programme aims to apply advanced knowledge in polymer engineering and develop students' abilities to design and conduct scientific research using appropriate methodologies. Students are expected to demonstrate effective thinking skills in solving research problems and analyzing technical findings using relevant tools and techniques. Additionally, the programme emphasizes effective communication of technical findings through oral and written presentations. Students are also expected to conduct research with professional ethics, adhering to legal, ethical, and professional codes of practice. The programme encourages lifelong learning by promoting the adoption of the latest relevant knowledge and technologies.

Entry Requirement

  • Bachelor's Degree: Candidates should possess a good honors bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia or an equivalent qualification. The degree should have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 and above. The bachelor's degree should provide a solid foundation in civil engineering principles and relevant coursework.
  • Lower Degree Grade with Working Experience: In certain cases, candidates with a lower degree grade may be considered for admission if they have sufficient working experience in the field. The working experience should demonstrate practical knowledge and skills in civil engineering.
