The Journalism program at Xiamen University (XMU) was first introduced in 1922. XMU was one of the three comprehensive universities in China to offer an international journalism program, launching it in 1984. Since then, we have been dedicated to producing graduates with professional skills and a global perspective. The program has consistently generated hundreds of successful graduates who are gainfully employed in China’s leading media outlets, including China Daily, People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China Radio International, and Guangming Daily.
We maintain close collaborations with many prestigious universities, such as the University of Western Sydney, Cardiff University, and the University of Missouri. Additionally, we co-designed a joint program with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Our Journalism program at Xiamen University Malaysia is committed to equipping aspiring journalists and media practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of media's role in society, as well as the challenges of international and cross-cultural communication. In addition, students will gain specific professional skills in journalistic reporting, storytelling, communication, broadcast presentation, and production techniques across various media segments.
Furthermore, the program aims to instill professional ethics, critical thinking skills, a sense of social responsibility, and a positive attitude toward independent and lifelong learning.
