Xiamen University (XMU) has been engaged in marine studies for nearly a century and is recognized as the birthplace of marine studies in China. Its Department of Oceanography, founded in 1946, is the first in the country, and the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences has become one of China’s leading marine research institutions, featuring a state key discipline in marine science. The faculty includes an academician from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and several experts involved in the "Thousand Talents Plan," China’s initiative to attract global experts.

The college is equipped with excellent research platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science, and outstanding educational centers such as the National Experimental Center for Education. Additionally, it operates an advanced general-purpose research vessel, the Jia Geng (嘉庚号), which is outfitted with state-of-the-art scientific instruments and has been conducting interdisciplinary oceanographic cruises in international waters since 2016.

Entry Requirements

STPM  

• A pass in STPM with at least a Grade C (GP 2.0) in any 2 subjects AND a pass in SPM with 3 credits including Mathematics, 1 science subject and 1 other subject, or its equivalent
